FOX's 'Sen Çal Kapımı' Sets Season 2 Premiere Date

Sen Çal Kapımı is returning to make this summer as memorable as it did the last. After much teasing, the trailer for the second season of Sen Çal Kapımı dropped to much fanfare today, revealing the show's highly-anticipated second season will return Wednesday, June 9. The first season concluded with 39 episodes on April 6.

Reminiscent of the first-ever trailer released for the show, the new minute-long new trailer, filmed earlier this week, seemingly teases a time-jump (rumored to be 5 years), as it shows Eda (Hande Erçel) and Serkan (Kerem Bürsin) fronted by blinding lights (paparazzi) as they answer questions about their lives and careers.

"As you know, my work is my everything," Serkan says, as he is interrupted by Eda in a stunning yellow outfit, who rebottles, saying: "i love my job, but there are other prizes in my life."

Perhaps the most heart-stomping part of the trailer was hearing a little girl call out to Eda at the very end. "Anne... is this man my father?," she questioned.

What could that possibly mean? *gasps*

Per information shared on socials, the original screenwriter of the show, Ayşe Üner Kutlu, is set to return to write for the second season. She is joined by new writers: Deniz Gürlek and Melek Seven.

Mystical Göbeklitepe to be focus of Netflix's new Turkish series

Göbeklitepe, the world’s oldest temple in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, will be the center of the new Netflix series “The Gift” (Atiye), the mystery drama’s star actress Beren Saat told reporters on Dec. 17.

“This is a story born in this part of the world, and Göbeklitepe plays the leading role in this narrative,” said Saat, who is best known for her roles in series such as “Aşk-ı Memnu” and “Fatmagül’ün Suçu Ne?”

Her comments came during a press screening for “The Gift” in Istanbul.

Describing Göbeklitepe as “a very important discovery for humanity,” the 35-year-old actress said: “We are helping to revive this story. The lead role in this story is actually Anatolia,” she said, referring to the Turkish heartland.

Göbeklitepe, declared an official UNESCO World Heritage Site last year, was discovered in 1963 by researchers from the universities of Istanbul and Chicago.

The German Archaeological Institute and Sanliurfa Museum have been carrying out joint excavations at the site since 1995. They found T-shaped obelisks from the Neolithic era towering three to six meters high and weighing 40-60 tons.

Video streaming company Netflix’s second Turkish original series will be launched worldwide on Dec. 27.

The show focuses on the story of an artist, Atiye, played by Saat who lives in Istanbul. Her life changes after a discovery at the ancient site of Göbeklitepe.

A book adaptation, the eight-part mystery drama also stars Mehmet Gunsur, Başak Köklükaya and Civan Canova.

One of the directors of the series, Gönenc Uyanık, said he was proud as their show focuses on “the story of a powerful woman.”

Netflix’s first original Turkish series, “The Protector,” was released in December last year and stars Çagatay Ulusoy as a young shopkeeper who learns he is connected to a secret, ancient order tasked with protecting Istanbul.

In November, the streaming company announced a third Turkish original series by Turkish playwright and actor Berkun Oya. The untitled project will be set in Istanbul.

Ottoman conquest of Istanbul to be focus of Netflix’s new Turkish series

The period of the rise of the Ottoman Empire will be the center of the new Netflix series “Rise of Empires: Ottoman.”

The series will focus on the period of the conquest of Istanbul and the rule of Ottoman Emperor Mehmet II, who conquered the city from the Byzantines in 1453.

The show was filmed in the form of a documentary-series and the original language of the series will be English.

In the documentary series, consisting of six episodes, Mehmet II embarks on a campaign for Constantinople, the Byzantine capital at the time, ushering in a new era.

Istanbul had been referred to with dozens of other names throughout history, such as Byzantion, Constantinople, Konstantiniyye and Dersaadet, but the city came to be known as Constantinople, or the “city of Constantine” during the Byzantine period.

The series was directed by Emmy award-winning Turkish director Emre Şahin.

Well-known Turkish actors Tuba Büyüküstün and Cem Yiğit Üzümoğlu share the leading roles of the series.

Prominent academics Celal Şengör and Emrah Safa Gürkan are the script advisors of the show.

The documentary series was launched by Los Angeles-based Turkish production company Karga Seven Pictures and STX Entertainment.

The series, which will blend fiction and documentary elements, will be released on Jan. 24 on Netflix.

New platform to promote Turkish dramas to the world

Demirören Media launched its new digital platform, Dramax, which has a subscription system for users around the world besides Turkey, at an online press conference on April 14.

The platform, which aims to present hit Turkish TV series to the world on a single platform, has a content of more than 5,000 hours of TV series.

All productions will be broadcast with Spanish and Arabic dubbing in Dramax, which also aims to present other language options, especially Russian, Urdu and English in the upcoming period.

Dramax Executive Board Member Murat Saygı stated that Turkish TV series have been sold to foreign televisions for a long time and that they achieved significant successes in this field.

“Thanks to the quality of the Turkish TV series and the stories of these lands, Turkey has become the country that sells the most content to the world after the U.S. In addition to its economic contributions to our country, Dramax will be the strongest platform where Turkish culture, geography, traditions, customs and tourism will be introduced,” Saygı said.

Reminding that all the Turkish TV series sold abroad have so far reached approximately 550 million people around the world, Saygı said that with Dramax, their target is to reach 4.6 billion web users and 5.2 billion mobile users via the web or mobile application.

“Until today, viewers living mainly in Arabic and Spanish-speaking countries have been able to access Turkish series on television channels in their countries. However, the world is now a geography, where people move to other countries to live and work. Turkish content will no longer be watched only at the broadcast time of the broadcasting channel in foreign countries, but will become a form that foreigners can watch ‘whenever and wherever they want’,” Saygı added.

Stating that in addition to the Turkish TV series that have been sold abroad, the ones that have not been sold so far will gain value again. “Thanks to Dramax, brand new audiences who have never watched these contents will be able to watch them with different language opportunities. Not only TV series but also cinema and TV films, children’s programs and documentaries will be included in this system.”

Addressing all channels and rights holders in Turkey, Saygı said, “Dramax is entirely a product of Demirören Media, and Kanal D is one of its customers. Thus, independent of competition, we invite all channels, original series and movie content producers to become stakeholders in the platform.”

Dramax has two different membership options: Single and family packages. The single package is $4.99, and the family package is $8.99. Users can benefit from a one-week free trial subscription for their first membership.

The digital platform Dramax can be watched on www.dramax.tv, IOS and Android mobile and tablet applications, the infrastructure of which were made by Turkish engineers. Access from Smart TV, Apple TV and Android TV devices is planned to be available in the first year.
